SOMEONE LOVES A LOT: A CHILD TO BE BORN

Isaiah 9:1-7

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government will be upon His shoulder – and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.”  Isaiah 9: 6-7

Leading up to this glorious promise of the One to come, the people of Israel were walking in darkness.  They dwelt in the land of the shadow of death.  Upon them a great light has been shined.   This light is God’s promise of His blessings and presence.  It wasn’t meant only for those back in Old Testament times to look to this great light, but for us also, today.  If we come to Christ empty and willing to give Him our all, He will shine His great light upon us; filling us with His love, peace, joy.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 4 to “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”  Let God’s light shine in your life today for the One to Come is Greater.

He will be the “Child to be born”.  God promised the people of Israel that the one to come will be a child – a Son given.  He will have order over His kingdom and will establish it with judgment and justice from then and forever.  They had a promise they could depend on.  We also have a promise we can depend on today.  God has promised us He will return soon.  His Son will come to us.  Are we ready?  God wants our all – all of us for all of Him.  He came once as a small child – loving us with all that God had to give.  He will come again very soon – not as a small child - but He will still and forever more have all to give as God gave Him.  This is His promise to us.  Look to His glorious light – let His light shine in our lives today.  He is Wonderful.  He is Prince of Peace.

I pray, Dear Lord, that today we all look to Your light, knowing we can have all of You.  I pray, Dear Lord, we let your light shine today in our lives – that we look to You in all things.  That we can know we can have your promise of the One who has come, and the One who will come.  This was and is your promise to us, Dear Lord.  I pray we all seek you and look to you today and always.  Amen.
