FINALLY…JESUS—IT IS TIME!

Luke 2:1-20

Come and hear; I have good news!  We have a Maker, who not only holds the events of time in His Hands, but also the individual lives that pass through time.  As the second hand faithfully ticked on through the journey of the Bible, the moment suddenly and finally came.  It was a moment of mercy planned by Love, Himself.  A sacrifice was born.  “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.” Can you see the tender-heartedness of a God who would look at a fallen world full of filthy lives, and say, “Fear not… I bring good tidings…unto you, He is born?"  God gave us this gift, and this gift gave His life.  I have made many mistakes, and like everybody, I’ve stained this young life.  When is there a more perfect time for mercy?  It is time!  When His blood of forgiveness washes over a needy one, the time has come for thanking that Eternal Giver, who performed His promise.  “And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them."  Once again, as the second hand keeps ticking, and life takes each step, time brings events that cause tears, fear, or anxiety to any sensitive soul.  Remember, no hurting child of God, who is willing to give up, is ever alone… “For He knoweth our frame, He remembereth that we are dust.” It is time for peace and healing.

When I have the human thought that I cannot take another step, I can now humbly admit that that is true. I have failed at every attempt.  This is when the time now comes, that I look up, pleading into the eyes of the One who made my feet and each step they take.  I am never alone, or separate from my God.  I am an X-ray Technician, and there is a person at work, who, when I am afraid or unsure while performing my job, sticks by me, telling me I’ll come through.  One day, while teaching me, she told me that I would not have to perform a certain stressful medical procedure in the O.R. on my own—for the very first time—without the presence of another technologist.  But, due to the time of day and staffing, I did.  That friend’s encouraging words stuck with me because she was right, I truly wasn’t alone.  My God was beside me saying, “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  And because of the One who was with me, I came through.

That second hand has been faithfully keeping it’s time, and with each beat, the time came, the time comes, and the time always will be ‘to give back and fall in love.'  We can clearly see the sacrifice given, even as we look across the room at the manger scene.  As “He first loved us," it is now, and always has been time to crumble at His feet, giving back, falling in love with the One who is called “… thy salvation, which God hast prepared before the face of all people: a Light to lighten the Gentiles, and the Glory of Thy people Israel.”  This is the Good News we so desperately need, and it is enough to make a deeply Merry Christmas.  I love you!
